Rinku Singh is the new love of Cricket enthusiasts ever since the Indian Premier League(IPL2023) last season was completed.
Rinku Khanchand Singh, lovingly famous as Just Rinku Singh, is a new emerging cricket giant in Indian Cricket.
The KKR man in the IPL and the new favorite has shown how dream and dedication make anything possible.
The humble background- Just like a guy next door
Rinku Singh is third among five siblings. His father Khanchandra Singh has struggled a lot to make things possible for Rinku Singh and supported him in all walks of life the new Star. Rinku Singh too has reciprocated beautifully, like his cricket Innings.
During his early years, Rinku Singh lived in a tiny two-room quarter near Aligarh Stadium in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, where his dream of playing for India was shaped. Even the accommodation there was arranged by his father’s employers.
Early Days in Cricket
Rinku Singh has played for Uttar Pradesh in the Under16(U16), U19, and Under-23 levels and represented Central Zone at the Under-19 level.
In March 2014, he made his List A cricket debut for Uttar Pradesh at the age of 16 where he was the top scorer with 83-same number when the Indian national cricket team won their first Cricket World Cup. He made his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh in the trophy on 5 November 2016.
Scoring 803 runs in just nine matches in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy cleared all air that Rinku Singh is here to stay and rule.
The Indian Premier League-IPL SAGA
In the 2017 season, Kings XI Punjab bought him for the 2017 Indian Premier League. In January 2018, he was paid Rs.80 lakh by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 IPL auction.
Rinku Singh was out of the 2021 Indian Premier League season due to a knee injury but the hustle of Rinku Singh Continued.
In February 2022, Kolkata Knight Riders again bought him in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League tournament. This year he got his first Man of the Match of the series award with a cheque of one lakh for scoring 42 runs in just 23 balls with a strike-rate of 182.61 against Rajasthan Royals.
On 9 April 2023, Rinku achieved a record-breaking feat in an IPL match against Gujarat Titans, smashing 5 sixes in the final over to successfully chase down 29 runs – the highest-ever chase in the last over in the tournament’s history.
INTERNATIONAL DEBUT
In August 2023, he made his international debut in the first T20I against Ireland in Dublin (Malahide). Scoring match winning Innings are common for him now but recently what makes him talk of the town is an unbeaten inning of 31 runs off just 9 balls against Australia in the second T20I at Thiruvananthapuram. The Australian main Cricket team is not into the game. So is the scene for India where relatively younger Cricket heroes are given a free hand to roar. Surya Kumar Yadav’s led young team is outweighing Australia in every possible way.
This is just a beginning for the star emerging from filthy-rich IPL and we need to track where he heads to!
